This is the handout for the first few classes of our series on Theology of the Body. I have gone through Part 1 of Theology of the Body, which goes through July 21, 1982, and have listed at the beginning of the document the definition of Theology of the Body from JPII and the major themes in Part I that I will focus on during class. Given the limitations of time and the amount of material we would like to cover, and the difficulties of some of the philosophical language in this work, especially for those who have not studied philosophy, I have bolded the parts that bring out the conclusory ideas I plan to focus on during class.
